This catalog scan of
Mark Rothko, Untitled (Red, white and brown), 1957, is a aged look from what we’re used to (and I’d point out here our scan comes from a legit source) but I have certain photos that bear out the same position. It’s possible it’s another one of our lighting issues or it’s possible like the Harvard Murals that light has damaged the original vibrancy. Here our Rothko is recessed but still lyrical. I actually like it more and more on it’s own and thought i’d offer it as part of our always changing window to our subject’s work.
